EV Performance Design
Similar to conventional vehicle, the power performance, stability and comfort are also the ultimate goals when IAT researches and develops EV, focusing on the following aspects of performance:
motor selection for EV power performance
battery selection for EV cruising mileage
axle-load distribution analysis and stability control on EV stability
suspension modification for EV comfort
As the driving core of EV, a suitable motor will play a vital role in the success of an EV. IAT has unique experience in selecting motor used for EV. Based on the customers’requirements such as EV Top Speed, Max. Grade Ability, and 0-100 km/h Acceleration and combined with the features of the EV, we choose a motor for the customer. We make the most reasonable choice through the EV Motor, Battery Choice Reference System that is developed by ourselves, considering factors such as motor power, torque, rotation speed. After repeat comparisons, the most optimized motor will be chosen from our huge motor database. Similarly, when choosing the battery, we will select the suitable battery based on the customer demands as well as specified cruising mileage for EV. During this selection process for motor and battery, IAT keeps in mind the importance of performance and cost to customer. Therefore, we will set up different combination packages to meet customers’requirements. This will not only promise the advantage in the performance of EV, but also keep the cost as low as possible.
Compared with conventional vehicle, EV has a relatively large modification on the structure. A heavy battery system significantly affects the front and rear axle-load distributions for EV, which will cause a huge impact on the stability of EV. With rich experience in battery layout for EV, we optimize the front and rear axle-load distributions to avoid any impact on battery performance by reasonable battery layout. Meanwhile, we use advanced Vehicle Stability Computer-aided Simulation System to do the on-line simulation and repeated optimizations of EV stability, thus ensuring the rewarding performance of our high-speed-running EV no matter for its resistance to side wind or neutral steering in turning. At the meantime of structure optimization on EV, we also introduce those advanced stability controlling systems used in traditional vehicles such as ABS, TCS into our EV to best protect the safety of driver.
The comfort is critical, among those factors that may attribute to the purchase of an EV, for instance the power performance, economy and safety. IAT deeply understands the need of driver and passenger for comfort by its rich designing experience. By simulation optimization and actual verification, we calibrate a suitable suspension stiffness and resistance according to the actual situation of EV to ensure people have a comfortable driving and seating experience at both highway and shadowed lane.
